i can get people connected and they can make characers that i can see on my cmd prompt but the characters arent on their characterlist
i already changed the realmd port to 8700 so it wouldnt interfere with the blizzard 3724 port

Hi!
i got the “Logging into game server” issue. I get that far, then i get thrown back into Realm selection again.
You know how to fix this? I am not in the same network as the server, Use hamachi to connect.
steveya said
Hey Stain,
This is the answer to the problem, it worked for most people
In you hosts file (C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts), make sure at the bottom it says you LAN IP address then a space then you hamachi IP INSTEAD of something that says ‘127.0.0.1 localhost’ (I think it says that). Also, one comment said to allow ports 1400 and 1401 through your firewall and router to. Last but not least, make sure the realmd port (delfault 3724) isn’t being used by anything else. If it is, go to realmd.conf and look for 3724 (not that far down) and change it into something else: E.G. 7000
Also, if you do change the port, make sure you foward it on your router and firewall AND in your realmlist.wtf file, add :7000 on the end (prosuming the new port is 7000)

pff does anyone knows what this 127.0.0.1 means? well i`l tell u …. it`s the same as localhost BUT it`s in the loop …. if the localhost doesen`t work meaning the server it check`s it up every 28 seconds to see if it`s working or not ,,, that isen`t the problem with many of the server`s .. so stop changing that or in the future when u`l make anouther kind of server it won`t work

tried to change the localhost thing, didnt work. ALL firewalls are off.
tried to connect while i was at the same network as the server. got the same error. “logging into game server”, then back to realm list.
think we found what causes it tho, when we type “info” at the server, it says max_players_1. and when we open the mangos config, it says the value is 100.
any suggestions about what to do? or do we need to reinstall it?

press help in the mangos console and u`l find a command there to set the max limit of the players in …

I was having the same problem and the fix I found for it was to re-run the lan set up and use your real IP address not the lan ip.
alpha136000 said
hmm might try later bandwidth low…. and if that dosnt work its prob cause i didnt port forward correctly… :O

Hey, I’m able to logon to Mangos on my home network, but when other people try to log on from outside the network, they can log on, but they get stuck at the “logging into game server” part, and it doesn’t go anywhere. Any ideas?

Okay, so I tried that, and everyone is still stuck at “Logging into game server” and i’ve tried changing ports, and that didnt work.

By that I take it you’ve tryed everything that was said. That’s all I know you can do; have you made sure you’ve done everything it says on reapers guide?
Domitus said
Yeah, I did. At least i’m 90% sure i did.
steveya said
90% sure
Check the other 10% and see if you find anything wrong.
Domitus said
Yeah, i’ve checked everything, Ive changed the port to 7000 and it still doesn’t work

Hey guys, just because your port is open doesn’t mean your setup. You also have to forward that port to the ip of the server. Go into your router interface and look for something like NAT, port forwarding (or GAME SERVER on some D-link’s). I have a D-link DSA-3200 and it works well.

Still not any solution for logging into game server problem? I tried with the one that you suggested but it didn’t work
david said
i can connect but when i do it states to “open socket 172″? …so how do i do that, keeps leaving me at the realm list
steveya said

Sorry for me being behind. I don’t know why.
#Wijjyu
Have you port fowarded properly?
#david
I haven’t seen that before. It looks like something isn’t letting your server work on your computer. I don’t know what though.

I had everything working just perfect on the 2.3.3 wow with 5472 ver. of mangos. I got it working from some cheap video someone had made and that was hard enough from all the decompression of the video. I tried to upgrade the reaper’s version (that was a huge mistake). The guide says “how to setup 2.4.x in 3 easy steps. If anyone here has actually setup and ran it public knows there is like 20 steps to make before you can play or even play public. The only problem i’m having now is that when other people log on is just hangs at the realm screen. Logon is successful just no realm or something. I can play on the host machine though.

You can try the things on this comment: http://steveya.wordpress.com/2008/02/16/setting-up-lan-on-reaper-x-mangos-making-it-public-help/#comment-223
But use your dns (if you’re using that) or instead of the hamachi IP if you’re not using hamachi.
michael said
For some reason i can’t find the host file in vista. I havent tried to find it elsewhere or serch to change if Windows had renamed it or something. I am using a dns but somewhere i didnt configure it right. Somewhere! Thanks
michael said
You as persistent as i am i knew i would finally get it again. I don’t need a dns nor do i need any other 3rd party software like “Hamachi” which i was trying to use. It’s just a local lan party right now anyway. If i make this public i would probaby use hamachi just cause i like the extra control features. This is what i used to make me understand how the server process works anyway. http://forum.ragezone.com/f114/mangos-guide-running-a-lan-and-wan-server-271443/.
